Carol Hamoy 1934 —

Biography

Born in New York City.

Through the inclusion of fabric, lace and articles of clothing in her artistic media, she maintains and honors the memory of her immigrant family's participation in the garment industry. Her works represent visual explorations of tradition and identity, further amplified by gender-based undertones.

Selected exhibitions: Ellis Island NY; Neuberger Museum of Art, NY; Mizel Museum, CO; Longyear Museum, Hamilton NY.

Regarding her artistic process:

"As a storyteller and an educator, I present to the world a wonderful account filled with the adventures and accomplishments of women, many of whom are virtually unknown... My work seemingly deals only with issues of central importance to women, both past and present. However, if one looks deeply at the work they will note the matters being discussed are really beyond gender and politics."
