Biography

"My Father was in the garment business in Kansas City Mo.; having fled (emigrated) from Tsfed (Safed) in 1929, after the massacre. My Grandfather's family was then seventh generation settlers (before the Balfour declaration the Jews of Israel were members of the yshud in the ancient land of Israel, not Palestinians); my Grandmother's family arrived in the ancient land of Israel generations before."

 

Born in Kansas City, Missouri.

Oelbaum studied at Brandeis University, where he received his BA in Anthropology.

Selected collections, including: The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston TX; Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn NY; Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Paris; Museum of the City of New York; Museum of Jewish Heritage, NY; Southeast Museum of Photography, Daytona Beach FL; The Polaroid Collection, Waltham MA.
